A new discovery has provided evidence that Picasso was an advocate for reuse himself.
Picasso’s painting, The Crouching Lady, was analysed using innovative technology that showed the canvas painting in new detail, giving insight into Picasso’s creative process. As to why Picasso would paint over another artist’s canvas, there could be a range of reasoning. This could include an economic necessity of an artist or to drive a deeper level of inspiration using the painting that had already been created.
