A new mural has been created on a Bradford district wall in a bid to deter vandalism and graffiti on the wall. The mural was commissioned by the clothing company, Damart, on a wall of its canal-side workshop.
Numerous local artists, including Sven Shaw, Hannah Toehill, Lucy Phillips, Andrew Szymansky, Shiraaz Ali and Tom Bailey worked together to contribute to the Bingley mural, located at Three Rise Locks, using leftover paint sourced from Community RePaint Bradford.

The mural maps out part of the route of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, from Keighley to Esholt, identifying key buildings and other landmarks along the route. An informative piece that does a great job at brightening up the space while encouraging pride of place, reducing the likelihood of vandalism and graffiti within the area.
Alongside working on the Bingley mural, Sven Shaw has previously been involved in projects using paint from his local RePaint scheme, and in March 2020, was set a task to brighten up the Bradford Interchange, colouring commuters’ mornings and giving the tired-looking walls a fresh new look. The scheme collects reusable paint from local Household Waste Recycling Centres, and leftover paint from local retailers, businesses and traders.
