Instead of being wasted, 70,000 litres of reusable paint have been used by individuals, charities and community groups, which has added colour to the lives over 30,000 people across Hull. Leftover, reusable paint was collected from decorators, retailers and businesses, all who made sure their leftover paint was made available for reuse, rather than being thrown away.

Paul Clarke, who runs Community RePaint Hull said:
‘Here at Community RePaint Hull, we are really proud of the achievements of our Community RePaint scheme. It is really valued by our customers as it allows them to freshen up their homes and community buildings at a more affordable cost. We couldn’t do any of this without the amazing support of our customers and the businesses that offer us their good quality, so we want to say a big thank you to them for all their support. It’s great to be part of a larger network where we all work together to achieve a common goal.’

To pick up paint, visit Community RePaint Hull at 305 Hessle Road, Hull, HU2 4BJ during their opening hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30 am 4 pm.

“If a charity contacts me I’ll try my best to get [paint] for them. There are various different ones in the area that have benefitted. Obviously before they weren’t able to do up a property they’ve got, and now they’ve got a nice place they can encourage people to come into.
“If you’re given a property that is dark, dingy and not very inhabitable and you’re able to give it a lick of paint and spruce it up and make it livable it makes a big difference to someone’s health and their sense of pride.”

World Water Day is an annual celebration held in March that highlights the importance of fresh water. The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
A huge 50 million litres of paint is wasted in the UK every year. Not only this, but householders themselves waste 40 litres of reusable paint every minute. This means that water and other raw materials required to produce the paint also wasted. It’s simple to reduce this figure, pick up reusable, leftover paint for your decorating projects, and take your leftover paint to your nearest drop-off point when you are finished.

We were pleased to feature on Skint Dad’s blog which provides money-saving tips and tricks. The article highlights the benefits of Community RePaint and how we can work for you if you are a householder, community group or individual in need of cheap paint. You can read the article in full here.
