St Philips Reuse and Recycling Centre

This site in Bristol is run by Bristol Waste. It is operated through the local household waste recycling centre. At this site, you can drop off leftover paint from your home or collect paint for your home or local project.

Drop-off leftover paint:

If you are a resident within Bristol City Council and you have leftover paint from your home you can use the drop-off point on-site to leave your paint.

You must book in advance to visit the recycling centre and arrive onsite with photo ID and proof of residency – click here to book a slot. Groups and individuals will then be able to access the site to collect the paint and use it locally.

As this drop-off point is run by the local authority, the site is unable to accept paint donations from businesses. If you are a trader, retailer, manufacturer or other business with leftover paint, click here to find out how you can donate your leftover paint for reuse through the Community RePaint network.

Please note, if you live outside of Bristol, you will not be eligible to access the site. If there is no drop-off point in your local authority area you will need to contact your local authority for guidance on what to do with your leftover paint. You can also adapt this template letter to encourage your local authority to consider collecting leftover paint for reuse at their sites.

Pick up leftover paint:

You can buy leftover tins of paint, and also ReColour remanufactured paint, from the Bristol Waste Reuse Shop at Avonmouth Recycling Centre. The shop diverts good quality, pre-loved items from the waste stream; providing low-cost household products, such as televisions, furniture and vacuums, for residents. Please contact for available colours and prices.

Access: The shop has its own entrance and parking, so you can make a visit without visiting the Recycling Centre. If there is a queue for the Recycling Centre, you can make yourself known to a member of staff at the site, or phone 0117 304 9590, to be directed straight to the shop. Please note that you cannot access the Recycling Centre from the shop, so if you are visiting both, you may choose to use the Recycling Centre first. The shop is open to non-Bristol residents and you can the shop on any day during its opening hours, regardless of it being an odd or even number plate day.

Bristol City – Old Market

Our Bristol City scheme is run by the SOFA Project, a reuse & recycling charity and social enterprise. They have three shops in Bristol, one based on Gloucester Road, one based on Day’s Lane, St Phillips and this shop in Old Market.  They sell a variety of second-hand/preloved furniture, electrical items, retro furniture and paint at affordable prices.

The scheme stocks full and part-full containers from householders, traders, retailers and manufacturers.  If you have good quality surplus paint then you can take it into any of the three stores. The paint is checked and logged and is available to purchase by individuals and groups from £2 per litre.

To pick up paint for your project, simply visit the scheme during its opening hours. They also have free parking at the back of the shop, if you are travelling by car.

Stock at Community RePaint schemes does vary throughout the year depending on what paint has recently been passed on for reuse by local businesses, traders and/or waste contractors in the area.

If there are specific types or colours of paint you are interested in purchasing for your project, we recommend contacting the scheme directly ahead of visiting, to find out if they have the paint you’re looking for in stock.

Whetstone Recycling and Household Waste Site

This Community RePaint drop-off point is located in Leicestershire County Council’s Whetstone Recycling and Household Waste Site.

If you are a resident within the Leicestershire area and you have leftover paint from your home that you’d like to pass on for reuse, visit this on-site Community RePaint drop-off point at Whetstone Recycling and Household Waste Site.

Paint dropped off at this HWRC is then collected by Community RePaint Loughborough, and made available to individuals and groups in need of affordable paint.

A free permit is required if you would like to drop paint off. Visit the website for the permit here.

As this drop-off point is run by the local authority, the site is unable to accept paint donations from businesses. Loughborough

Our scheme in Loughborough joined the network in 2017 and are hosted by The Exairo Trust and run by the Exaireo Reuse Project. The Exaireo Trust provides temporary supported accommodation and holistic service to single adults that are homeless. Their reuse project including their Community RePaint scheme provides work-based training to all of their residents, helping them to become economically independent in the future.

They collect paint locally from traders, retailers and manufacturers. They also pick up paint from a local Household Waste Recycling Centre. Whetstone Household Waste Recycling Centre (a permit is required) so if you are a householder with leftover paint in the area, please take your paint to the site for collection.

Old Swan Household Waste Recycling Centre

This Community RePaint drop-off point is located at Old Swan Household Waste Recycling Centre.

If you are a resident within the Merseyside Recycling & Waste Authority area and you have leftover paint from your home that you’d like to pass on for reuse, visit Old Swan HWRC to drop off your leftover paint.

Paint dropped off at this HWRC is then collected by Community RePaint Wirral, and made available to individuals and groups in need of affordable paint.

If you plan to access this site by van of any size, or with a trailer that’s between 2-3 metres in length, you will need to book an appointment online to access this Household Waste Recycling Centre. Cheshire – Winsford Community Centre

Our scheme in Winsford, Cheshire is run by Changing Lives Together. Paint is sold directly to individuals, families and Community Groups for £1-2 per litre. The paint is available from three Changing Lives Together stores across the area. See their website for more details about their outlets.

They stock ReColour, our remanufactured paint, make from surplus paint across the paint industry. ReColour is an interior emulsion paint available in 18 colours plus white and magnolia. Please contact for available colours and prices, as these may differ from other outlets and Community RePaint schemes.

If your community group, home, charitable organisation, housing association or local project could use paint to redecorate their premises, contact Changing Lives Together to access affordable paint.

Emmaus Bolton

You can buy ReColour, our remanufactured paint, from Emmaus Bolton. They are not a Community RePaint scheme so they do not collect or redistribute leftover paint from their local community. Instead, they partner with our remanufacturing centres in Cambridgeshire and on the Wirral to stock the ReColour paint that the centres produce. ReColour is an interior emulsion paint available in 18 colours plus white and magnolia.

Please contact Emmaus Bolton for available colours and prices, as these may differ from other outlets and Community RePaint schemes.

New Ferry New Beginnings

You can buy ReColour, our remanufactured paint, from New Ferry New Beginnings CIC. They are not a Community RePaint scheme so they do not collect or redistribute leftover paint from their local community. Instead, they partner with our remanufacturing centres in Cambridgeshire and on the Wirral to stock the ReColour paint that the centres produce. ReColour is an interior emulsion paint available in 18 colours plus white and magnolia.

North Staffordshire

Community ScrapShack CIC host our Community RePaint scheme in North Staffordshire. Their aim is to help people choose alternative materials to offer children, young people and the community the opportunity to develop their skills through play, craft and recreation. The paint is available to individuals and groups for between £1-2 per litre.

Community RePaint North Staffordshire

Holywood Recycling Centre

If you are a resident within Ards and North Down local authority and you have leftover paint from your home you can use the drop off point on site to pass your paint on to your local scheme in Belfast East. The scheme regularly collects paint from the drop off paint. The paint is then taken back to their premises where it is made available to individuals and groups in need. Unfortunately, our schemes are unable to take paint directly from individuals.

Please note, if you are not a member of this local authority you will not be eligible to access the site. If there is no drop off point in your local authority area you will need to contact them for guidance on what to do with your leftover paint. You can also adapt this template letter to encourage them to consider collecting leftover paint for reuse at their sites.

You can also make it available to other people to use you can post it on local reuse sites such as Freegle and Gumtree.
